Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is looking for a ‘second chance’ in Andoni Iraola’s side after a poor season on loan at Aston Villa.
Elliott played in Liverpool’s midfield during the 1-0 win over Wrexham on Wednesday, July 29 in New York.
The 23-year-old only managed to make five appearances in the Premier League last season during his loan spell at Aston Villa.
With a new boss at Liverpool, Elliott is hoping he can reestablish himself with the Reds.
Love for Liverpool
Speaking after the Wrexham game, Elliott shared his love for Liverpool and the passion that makes him want to play for the club.
He said: “Everyone knows how much I love the club.
“I’ve supported them from a very young age so the feeling never goes of putting the shirt back on and representing the club.
“It’s a childhood dream.
“Every time I put the shirt on I want to give it 100 per cent.”

Reflecting on last season
Only 277 minutes of football were played by Elliot for Villa which totalled to only nine games in all competitions.
This is partly due to a clause in his loan agreement that would force Villa to sign him permanently for £35 million if he had made a 10th appearance.
Speaking about last season, Elliott said: “Unfortunately it didn’t work out but the way I see it, that was last season.
“Now I’m here, it’s kind of a second chance, if you want to call it that, especially with the gaffer and new coaching staff coming in, it’s a chance to impress.
“I’m here now and I’m trying to cement my spot in the team or within the squad.”

Looking to the future
With reported interest from Leeds United, Sunderland, and RB Leipzig as well as other clubs, Elliott briefly discussed his plans for his future in football.
One of the player’s priorities is to enjoy his football, regardless of where he ends up.
He said: “I’m wanting to be selfish, doing what’s right for me.
“Whether that’s staying here and fighting for my place or whether that’s potentially going elsewhere I’m still unsure at the moment.
“Putting the shirt on, I don’t want to take these moments for granted because last season I thought it was the last opportunity to do it.
“Now I’m back here wearing the strip again.
“I just want to be free and play as much as I can and enjoy it because sometimes it feels like I don’t do that enough.”
