The New York Giants have the fifth overall pick coming into the 2026 NFL draft and have quite the opportunity to take who they really want.
The Giants don’t need a quarterback as they seem to have their man in Jaxson Dart. This leads to having a big choice in who to pick, writes Rant Sport‘s Joshua Marshall.
The main names coming into the draft stand: Caleb Downs, Sonny Styles, Carnell Tate and Jeremiyah Love.
Yet the last name there – Jeremiyah Love, isn’t a wise pick for the Giants.
Who wants Love?
A lot of analysts have Love to be taken fifth by the Giants, the main one being Mel Kiper who loves the idea of Love being in the Big Apple.
Kiper writes: “But Love is so much more than just a running back. He’s a dynamic playmaker who could elevate Jaxson Dart and this Giants offence to another level”

Even new head coach John Harborough called Love a “very, very, good player”.
Charles Davies NFL media Analysts had Love at 5 with the Giants, stating: “What helps young quarterbacks? Explosive players making explosive plays. You’re welcome, Jaxson Dart.”
Not Love at first choice
Yes, the Giants did not have the season they hoped, but it showed a glimpse of what was to come, as 105th pick Cam Skattebo lit up the league with his bulldog-like energy and partnership with Dart.
Skattebo put up five touchdowns and 401 yards before his season-ending injury against the Eagles. His play style of head down and just run seemingly worked well.
But that injury is where the speculation started for Love to be taken at five.
As well his ability at receiver work well putting up two yards for 207 yards, often being utilized on the screen.
The fans are over the moon, with Skattebo stating he was a major steal at 105.
Most likely to happen
With a number of names being on the book for the Giants at five, will Jeremiyah Love be the man Giants take? Only the front office knows.
Most fans are keen on the likes of Ohio State’s Caleb Downs or Sonny Styles, as it was the defence that seemed to have struggled last season, especially in the deep balls.
Thursday, April 23 is the date where we will find who will be the new Big Blue member.
