Former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes Jurgen Klopp is the ideal candidate to lead Germany, insisting the former Liverpool boss has the perfect profile to succeed in international football.
Klopp is widely expected to be appointed as Germany’s next head coach in the coming days, and Jenas believes his high-energy style can translate effectively to the international game.
He also suggested Carlo Ancelotti’s straightforward approach is well suited to national team management, while questioning whether Pep Guardiola’s tactical demands are too complex outside club football.
Speaking exclusively to 10bet, Jenas said: “Jürgen Klopp for Germany? I always think international jobs are all about timing. Have you got a good batch coming through?
“The Germans always have a good batch for international football, though it wasn’t great to see them go out the way they did.”

Klopp refreshed after Liverpool exit
Jenas believes Klopp has benefited from stepping away from football following his departure from Liverpool after years of relentless management.
“From Jürgen Klopp’s point of view, he seems to have consciously made the decision to slow things down in his life after leaving Liverpool,” he added.
“It was pedal to the metal all the way from his time at Mainz to Dortmund and then Liverpool.
“After having a break, it feels like he’s getting the flavour again for wanting to do something.
“With his German roots and links to the league for so long, it feels like a perfect fit for Germany.
“It’s going to be interesting to see how he adapts to not dealing with players day in, day out, but it’ll be exciting to see.”

Why Klopp could thrive at international level
Jenas also compared Klopp’s coaching style with those of Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola, arguing that simplicity is often an advantage in international football.
Ancelotti recently saw Brazil’s 2026 World Cup campaign come to an end, while Guardiola departed Manchester City at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
Jenas added: “If Ancelotti takes over your team, you’ll be given the freedom to figure it out yourselves.
“If you’re in a Jürgen Klopp team, it’s heavy metal and we’re going at it. So I think it is a benefit.
“You haven’t got someone like Pep Guardiola coming in, where he needs six months because his brain is too complicated to get you to play the football he wants at international level.
“That’s the feeling you get when you speak to players who have been coached by Pep. So, yeah, I think it will help.”
With Germany expected to confirm Klopp’s appointment soon, Jenas believes the former Liverpool manager is well placed to make an immediate impact on the international stage.
