We are truly in the middle of NFL mock draft season, and once more, Colin Cowherd blesses us with some truly bizarre picks.
Draft day is scheduled to start on April 23, and we are in for a rough few weeks filled with “sleeper picks” and “hot takes”, writes Rant Sport’s Loki de Pontes.
Who at 2?
For some time now, Arvell Reese has been the near-consensus number two pick. The 20-year-old linebacker is a versatile national champion with incredible speed and high potential.
Of course, Cowherd has him dropping to pick three, for no discernible reason. In his stead, he has defensive end David Bailey going to the New York Jets.
Bailey is a great player, don’t get me wrong. But picking him over Reese, with your argument essentially boiling down to the idea that the Jets should prioritise a “plug-and-play” guy, is a bit much.
If Bailey were a bulletproof prospect, I could almost understand it. But his lack of awareness when defending the run and his relative struggles to shed blocks make him a much larger question mark than Cowherd gives him credit for.
According to almost everyone, Reese has the higher upside and is much more flexible across the defensive line, making him especially attractive for a New York franchise needing direction at pick two. And he certainly shouldn’t fall to four, where Cowherd has so graciously put him.

Washington going for Option C
Cowherd is surprisingly high on corner Mansoor Delane, having him comfortably going top 10, whilst most mocks barely have him in that bracket, if at all.
Far from a bad prospect, Delane is an intelligent man-to-man specialist with masterful defensive instincts.
Still, mocking him to go to Washington is likely unrealistic. The Commanders are calling out for a player to fix their leaky pass defence, with either Sonny Styles or Caleb Downs the clear candidate, should either be available.
Cowherd is also bucking the trend by having Styles all the way at 10. His incredible combine performance has him shooting up draft boards in recent weeks, with some even having him in the top five.
Who knows, really?
Outside of a few sure prospects, the NFL draft is always a complete guess for anyone outside of a front office.
That news will come as no surprise to Cowherd, who infamously had Shedeur Sanders going top three in 2025, only for the quarterback to fall to pick 144 on draft night.
All we can do until that fateful night is pointlessly argue.
